The 2018 Trois Cailloux by Idun is a classic Southern Rhone blend of Syrah/Mourvedre/Grenache that shows a deep ruby red with a violet rim. Aromas of ripe currants, forest floor and tea leaf caressed by the spicy flavours of white pepper and coriander. Complex concentrated fruits, medium bodied with dense but silky tannins.
Idun is a small, boutique winery run by a French-Danish family originating from Mauritius. They produce excellent varietals which are well-balanced, concentrated, and elegant. These are mightily impressive, French-inspired wines which you would be paying a lot more for if the grapes were from France.
The Idun Trois Cailloux is named after the famous ‘galet roules’ or pudding stones, that lie on many of the soils in Chateauneuf.

A voluptuous and stunning red from Elgin on South Africa's Western Cape. The valley is a quick one-hour drive from Cape Town, and is surrounded by lush forests, orchards and flora, The valley’s wines are truly something else, made from grapes that ripen slowly because of Elgin’s fertile soil, elevation (350 m above sea level) and cool Mediterranean climate. The result is world-famous ‘cool climate’ wines that are delicate, elegant and age beautifully due to their higher acidity.
The name of the wine is a translation of Eternal Night which is due to it's sensuality and dark colour.
Grapes were picked from 3 different vineyard sites and the thick skinned Syrah has given the wine amazing colour with a savoury bouquet of black olive, spicy fruit and white pepper. Flavours of
berry fruits with fine ripe tannins solidify the wines elegance and allow it to age gracefully.
